Employee Spotlight
  Bill Johnson

Bill Johnson is shown here in the following photos working his flower gardens at our offices in Charlotte.

Born in Chicago, Bill played ball for the New York Yankees organization right out of high school.  "I was a good ball player but I couldn't hit," says Bill.  "If I could hit, life would have been different for sure."  He had a major league contract with the Yankees but went on to play triple A and double A ball for a time before realizing that he needed to settle down and start a career.

In 1962, he went to work for Weisz Decalomania in Chicago when Mr. Fred B. Johnston, the new owner of the company and, as it turned out, Bill's future father-in-law, hired him for a sales position.  He sold one account which eventually became their biggest.  A career in sales wasn't for him, though, and he eventually became their VP of Production and was instrumental in organizing their move to SC.

They purchased Screencraft in Charlotte, NC around 1975.  Bill was made President of Screencraft and still managed his operational duties for Weisz, which later became the Fred B Johnston Company.  He left the company in 1986 to pursue other print opportunities throughout the Southeast and eventually landed back in Charlotte to work with the owners of Red Pepper Graphics.

Bill's son, Billy Johnson, also works for Red Pepper as Print Manager.

Bill is challenged by hard work and enjoys staying busy.  He says, "You keep young by working and keeping your mind busy."

Bill is a valued asset to Red Pepper Graphics - and so are his flowers!
